Fascias & Soffits

uPVC Fascia & Soffit Replacement

Timber fascias, soffits and bargeboards were once standard, but in a wet Highland climate they need regular painting to stay sound. Once water gets into the grain, the boards soften, gutter brackets loosen and gaps open up for birds and damp. Replacing them in uPVC removes that cycle of painting and repair.

Your old boards are stripped off and the rafter ends behind them are checked before anything new goes up. Sound timber is kept, and any rot found is dealt with first, so the new fascias have a solid fixing. Soffits are fitted to close the eaves, with ventilation where the roof space needs it.

Bargeboards on gable ends get the same treatment, giving the whole roof edge a matching finish. uPVC does not rot, flake or need repainting, so a wipe down now and again is usually all it takes to keep your roofline looking tidy.

The Cost of New Fascias & Soffits

Every job is priced on what it involves, and you get a FREE, no-obligation quote before anything is booked.

  • FREE, No-Obligation Quote
  • Price Agreed Before Work Is Booked
  • No Commitment to Go Ahead
  • Quoted by the Person Who Does the Work
  • Number of Elevations

Replacing boards on one side of the house costs less than doing the front, back and gables together.

  • Depth of the Soffits

Wider eaves need deeper soffit boards, which means more material across the length of the run.

  • Rot in the Rafter Ends

Timber found decayed once the old fascias are off needs repairing before the uPVC can be fixed.

  • Bargeboards & Gable Detail

Gable ends add bargeboards and corner pieces, so homes with several gables take longer to finish.

How It Works

Replacing Timber Fascias with uPVC

  1. Step 1

    Inspecting the Existing Boards

The fascias, soffits and bargeboards are checked along every elevation for soft timber, loose fixings and gaps at the eaves.

  2. Step 2

    Taking Down the Old Timber

Gutters are unclipped and the old timber boards taken down, exposing the rafter ends so their condition can be checked properly.

  3. Step 3

    Fitting the New uPVC Boards

Soffits go in first, then the fascias are fixed to the rafter ends and the bargeboards are fitted along the gables to finish.

  4. Step 4

    Finishing Up

The gutters are refitted to the new fascias and the site cleared. We then review the work with you and confirm it is as agreed.

FAQs

Fascia & Soffit FAQs

Straight answers to the questions people ask most often about fascias and soffits in the Highlands. If yours is not here, call and ask.

Is It Better to Cap Old Fascias or Replace Them?

Covering rotten timber hides the problem without stopping it. Removing the old boards lets the rafter ends be checked and gives the new fascias a sound fixing.

Do uPVC Fascias & Soffits Need Painting?

No. uPVC does not need painting or staining. An occasional wipe with warm soapy water keeps it clean.

Why Do Soffits Need Ventilation?

Many roof spaces rely on air drawn in at the eaves to keep condensation down. Vented soffits let that air in while keeping birds and debris out.

Will My Gutters Have to Come Down for New Fascias?

Yes, the gutters are fixed to the fascias, so they are taken down while the boards are replaced. They are then refitted or renewed, depending on their condition.

Can Bargeboards Be Replaced Without Touching the Fascias?

Yes. If only the gable ends have rotted, the bargeboards can be replaced on their own. Call or ask for a FREE quote for your property.
